Learn More About Cocaine Abuse Recovery at Seven Hills
Cocaine, also commonly known as “coke” or “blow,” is a highly addictive substance that works as a stimulant, providing individuals with feelings of excitement, elation, and euphoria. Coke also works as a pain blocker by causing a numbing effect. With repeated use, cocaine changes the reward system of the brain, which leads to tolerance, addiction, and dependence. The high that people experience from cocaine use typically only lasts for around half an hour, which increases the amount that people use as they try to make that high last for a prolonged period of time.

Helping a Loved One
Helping a Loved One or Family Member Get Cocaine Addiction Treatment
Having a family member or loved one who is struggling with a cocaine addiction can be heart-wrenching seeing the symptoms they face. It can be difficult to understand why anyone would participate in such a risky behavior despite knowing how devastating the consequences can be. You may be watching as your loved one begins experiencing difficulty performing at his or her full potential at work or school, as his or her interpersonal relationships deteriorate, and as things that were once important to him or her no longer seem to matter. You know that your loved one needs help from a professional cocaine treatment center or hospital, but you might be unsure as to how to go about approaching him or her with your concerns. Here are some things to keep in mind when helping your loved one:
- Educate yourself on the disease of addiction so that you can gain an understanding of why your loved one’s drug use has become so all-consuming
- Research options for care at treatment centers and hospitals specializing in cocaine abuse and present them to your loved one
- Express specific concerns that you have so that your loved one does not feel as though he or she is being attacked without reason
- Do not feel responsible for your loved one’s recovery; it is important to show your support, but do not assume responsibility for the things that he or she needs to change
- Do not threaten your loved one or present him or her with ultimatums; this will likely only cause arguments and result in your loved one becoming defensive
- Offer constant help, support, and reassurance throughout the treatment process as your loved one enters a hospital or center for cocaine abuse concerns

When looking for cocaine addiction treatment, you or your loved one may have been searching broadly for “rehab centers near me?” In the Las Vegas area, there is one clear choice. Seven Hills Hospital provides free, confidential assessments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at our convenient location near Las Vegas, Nevada. After completing a thorough assessment, one of our psychiatrists will review the evaluation in order to ensure that our cocaine addiction center will be able to provide the most appropriate level of care for the person who is in need of treatment for cocaine abuse concerns at our hospital. Once admitted into one of our centers, we provide each person with his or her own individualized plan of care which will be implemented in a safe, secure, and structured environment. We have a child and adolescent unit between the ages of 5 and 17, an adult mental health unit, an adult substance abuse treatment unit, an adult rehabilitation unit, and a geriatric unit, all tailored to meet the specific needs of each population while receiving treatment at our hospital. We utilize a number of different therapeutic techniques on each of our units including the following:
Detoxification: When adult patients come to us struggling with chemical dependency concerns, they will first go through the detoxification process in order to remove all substances from their bodies before fully engaging in the therapeutic process. All patients in our detox center are provided with 24 hour monitoring by nurses and doctors.
Medication management: Every patient who comes to us for treatment is seen within 24 hours by an internal medicine doctor in order to obtain a thorough medical history and to assess for any possible health complications. Additionally, all patients meet with a psychiatrist daily in order to monitor the therapeutic effectiveness of any medications they may have been prescribed and to make any changes that may be necessary.
Individual therapy: Individual counseling sessions are held on an as-needed basis and are designed to provide patients with time to meet privately with a therapist in order to work on things such as learning how to regulate emotions in a healthy way, how to tolerate distress, how to identify triggers, and how to develop coping skills that will aid in preventing relapse.
Family therapy: Family counseling sessions are held on an as-needed basis, except for patients in our adolescent unit who are provided with family sessions at least once per week. Family sessions are a time to engage the entire family in their loved one’s treatment and show them how they can best support their loved one during this time.
Group therapy: Group therapy is the main treatment method used here at Seven Hills Hospital. All patients participate in a minimum of two to three groups daily. Topics of discussion may include coping skills, stress management, anger management, effectively expressing emotions, communication skills, and life skills. For our patients who are struggling with substance abuse and addiction, there are also groups aimed at providing education surrounding addictive behaviors and triggers.
Experiential therapy: In addition to the more traditional treatment modalities, we also offer a number of other programs designed to help our patients on their road to recovery. These additional programs may include:
- A.A. meetings
- Recreational therapy
- Music therapy
- Creative arts
- Meetings with a dietician
- Physical fitness opportunities
