Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility Program

Seven Hills Hospital, located in Henderson, Nevada, offers a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) program for female adolescents ages 12-17 who are struggling with mental health and substance use concerns. Designed for long-term healing, this program can encourage patients’ progress where lower levels of care may have fallen short. This stand-alone unit allows us to provide highly focused and personalized support.

What Is a PRTF Program?

A PRTF program is a mental health and substance use care option for people who may need more support than outpatient or short-term inpatient programs can provide. It offers a safe environment where people can focus on healing.

Patients in a PRTF program have received care in a program such as an intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization program but may still need additional support. Our PRTF program is in a stand-alone unit at our hospital, where patients follow structured daily routines and receive focused, personalized therapies and services that can help them develop strategies for managing their symptoms.

In our PRTF program, we provide excellent care that can help young women and girls in Las Vegas and surrounding areas who are battling mental health and substance use concerns. With continuous supervision from highly qualified professionals and individualized care plans, patients can gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts and feelings and make progress toward personal growth.

The length of stay varies based on each patient’s needs but usually lasts between three and 12 months. This can give them the time they may need to learn healthy coping skills, process the effects of trauma, and feel more stable before returning home.

The PRTF program at Seven Hills Hospital could be the best option for people who are looking for a comfortable, structured residential environment to heal in. Safety, consistency, and providing the highest-quality care possible are our top priorities.

Who We Serve

At Seven Hills Hospital, our team offers exceptional care in our PRTF program for girls and young women ages 12-17 who are facing emotional and behavioral concerns. This program may be ideal for female adolescents who need more time, structure, and support to address their symptoms. If a person has not been able to find success in other programs, our PRTF program may be a good option for them to truly heal and receive the encouragement they need.

Our team understands that struggling with intense emotions, self-harm, aggression, or feelings of hopelessness can make daily life feel overwhelming. If your symptoms have put your physical or emotional safety at risk, know that you are not alone, and that you deserve a brighter future.

We treat people who may have difficulty controlling their emotions, maintaining relationships, or feeling stable from day to day. Our stand-alone unit provides a safe and comfortable environment where growth can happen at a steady pace.

If you or a loved one is feeling lost, we want you to know that there is hope. Our team is here to support you in gaining confidence, finding stability, and creating a path to lasting healing.

What To Expect

Patients who are participating in our PRTF program follow a structured routine that is designed to promote their stability and long-term success. Our program includes 24/7 supervision, individualized care plans, and a range of evidence-based therapies that can help give our patients the confidence and tools they may need on their path to holistic healing.

Our team completes a comprehensive assessment of each patient upon admission. This assessment may include questions about the patient’s current symptoms, their medical history, and any past treatment experiences they may have had. We use this information to develop a personalized care plan based on the patient’s specific needs. Stays in our PRTF program typically last three to 12 months, giving patients the time and consistent support they may need to make meaningful progress on their healing journey.

As part of their individualized care plan, patients follow a therapy schedule that includes individual and group therapy sessions, as well as family therapy sessions as needed. In addition to therapy, patients may receive basic medical services and medication management services from an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

This comprehensive team includes:

  • Medical doctors
  • Licensed practical nurses
  • Registered nurses
  • Behavioral health associates
  • Psychiatrists
  • Therapists

We also offer on-site detox services for patients who are suffering from substance use disorders, provided by medical doctors and registered nurses. Detox can help alleviate withdrawal symptoms by allowing the body to safely adjust to the absence of a substance under medical supervision. The duration of detox services varies based on the patient’s needs but can last up to 28 days.

At Seven Hills Hospital, our qualified team offers comprehensive services for girls and young women in our PRTF program that can support them in building self-esteem, strengthening relationships, and developing the skills they need for lasting stability. We also provide a detailed discharge plan for every patient so that they can feel confident as they take the next steps after our program.

Therapies We Offer in Our PRTF Program

Therapy is a key component of our PRTF program. We offer individual, group, and family therapy sessions that can support holistic healing.

Individual therapy: In individual therapy sessions, patients can meet one-on-one with a therapist to discuss their symptoms, the effects of trauma, or anything they feel may be holding them back from becoming the best version of themselves. Therapists can help patients develop healthy coping strategies and teach them ways to regulate their emotions. Individual therapy is an opportunity for patients to track their progress more closely with guidance from a therapist. The frequency of individual therapy sessions can be daily, weekly, or as needed based on the patient’s needs.

Group therapy: Group therapy sessions give patients the opportunity to form connections with their peers. Struggling with mental health concerns can make people feel isolated, but group therapy can be a supportive, encouraging setting where they feel heard and understood. We offer several different types of groups, including a physical education group and a recreational therapy group. Topics discussed in group sessions may include anger management, self-harm, life skills, and emotion regulation skills. Group therapy sessions are led by an experienced therapist and are held daily.

Family therapy: When individuals suffer from mental health and substance use disorders, it can affect not only them but also their family members. We offer family therapy sessions as needed or by request from the family, as they can be an opportunity for families to heal as a unit and rebuild their relationships.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) are therapy modalities our therapists may use during sessions. CBT helps patients challenge negative thinking and develop healthier responses to triggers, while DBT provides tools for emotion regulation, mindfulness, and coping with stress. These therapies can empower our patients to build resilience, make positive choices, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.
